Karpathos- Awaits for your exploration.
Karpathos, Anemoessa according to Homer, is calling you like a Siren and is waiting for you to explore her.
Wild, beautiful, proud, exposed to the winds of the Aegean and tasteful from the saltiness of the Karpathian sea, awaits the visitor to show him/her all of her beauties and tell him/her all of her well hidden secrets.
She is ready to tell you all about the myths and the legends, just like the one she took her name from, from the love of her people towards the Gods of Olympus.
The legend says that because the first residents loved their land so much, they stole the Olympian Gods and brought them here. For this act, they were called Arpatheei (god snatchers). Later on, it was changed to Karpatheei and then Karpathii (Karpathians), thus came the name of Karpathos. Homer refers to the island as Karpathos, but other ancient names are Tetrapolis, Anemoessa, Anemusa and Scarpanto, as used in the in the Middle Ages.
